Stable Cottage

CHERWELL VALLEY

A gorgeous converted stables with two bedrooms, within the grounds of a manor house set in a peaceful village just outside Banbury with lovely walking in the Cherwell Valley.

Sleeps 4, from £150 per night

Drive down a tiny lane, past a lake and then the village church, and you’ll find The Stable in the grounds of Caroline’s Queen Anne House. She’ll often be on hand to greet you with her dogs and show you around, and will leave a welcome pack that always includes a bottle of wine.

Flop down on comfy sofas by the fire in the sitting room and read up on English Civil War history, or sit out on your private terrace looking out at the manor house and landscaped lawns. From the orchard, there are fabulous views of the Cherwell Valley in which you can join many circular walks.

There’s a feeling of peace here, but not complete isolation: the nearest pub and shop is a pleasant 45-minute stroll, and there are plenty of other pubs within three miles. Banbury is 15-20 minutes’ drive away, Stratford-upon-Avon is 45 minutes.

  • We had a lovely time. Caroline is very welcoming, and the cottage was lovely - just what we needed. We really appreciated the welcoming touches: books and games we could borrow, fresh milk in the fridge and some welcome goodies (incl wine). The accommodation is spacious, well equipped and clean. I’d definitely like to stay again!

  • Stable Cottage is in a peaceful garden setting, comfortable and beautifully furnished with a very well equipped kitchen. A good selection of books and games or just sit out on the patio and enjoy the scenery. We thoroughly enjoy our stay and highly recommend it to anyone wishing to spend time in Oxfordshire.

  • A magnificent location, especially for dog owners, as the space is very dog-friendly with lots of room for dogs to run around. Caroline is a wonderful lady, very friendly, and so helpful. The location is very quiet and restful, definitely needed after a long day's work. I cannot recommend it more.
